316L Stainless Steel Whole-House Pre-Filters: When to Recommend Them and How to Choose

A whole-house pre-filter is installed at the main water inlet, before water heaters, purifiers and other equipment. Its job is simple: catch larger particles such as sediment and rust before they reach the rest of the system.

What a 30–50 micron pre-filter does (and doesn't do)

Our M23, M24 and M25 pre-filters use a 316L stainless steel mesh rated at 30–50 micron. That means:

  • They do capture sediment, sand and visible rust particles.
  • They do not replace a purifier. They don't remove dissolved salts or substances that only an RO membrane or ultrafiltration system can reduce.

Explaining it this way avoids wrong expectations and helps you sell the full setup: pre-filter at the inlet plus RO purifier in the kitchen.

When to recommend one

  • Homes with older pipes or visible rust.
  • Areas with cloudy or sediment-laden water, especially after supply interruptions.
  • New installations, to protect water heaters, valves and purifiers from day one.
  • As an add-on sale every time you install an RO purifier.

Why 316L

316L stainless steel is an alloy with good corrosion resistance, which suits a mesh that is in constant contact with water. On our models the body is brass (GB/T 59-1 standard) and the filter housing is PC, or PA nylon on M24.

Choosing between M23, M24 and M25

All three are rated for 0.1–0.8 MPa water pressure and 5–40 °C.

  • M24: for homes or small buildings with higher simultaneous demand (up to 8 m³/h).
  • M23: when the installer needs to choose a directional or universal connection to match existing pipework.
  • M25: for installations built around a standard 1-inch connection.

Installation and maintenance

Fit the pre-filter after the main valve and before any other equipment. For mesh cleaning and maintenance, follow the manual for each model.
